It's no wonder that 1969 was a good year for chronographs. In 1969, a chronograph was sent to the moon. In that year, the first automatic movement chronograph was announced. It is still debatable which brand or consortium made the announcement first. We can, however, say that the other iconic chronograph of 1969 is the square chronograph, which we call the Monaco.

Monaco was the first square-shaped, angular wristwatch. The case was designed to be water-resistant, and it also housed the new revolutionary self-winding Calibre 11, which was a first. Calibre 11 was what Heuer called it (Swiss Replica Watches).
